Dawuti told Xinjiang Daily that the boy had been washed downstream for about two kilometres (1.2 miles) before he was rescued.

He grabbed the boy’s right hand and pulled the child along the river, which was about 60 centimetres (2 feet) deep, for about six metres (19 feet).

Then he managed to grab onto another colleague who had formed a human ladder with the rest of the offices on the river bank.

After changing the child out of his wet clothes, the police took the boy to the hospital for a check-up. Luckily, he was not injured.
