Police Chief ‘given Starbucks coffee with ‘PIG’ written on the label’ – The Sun

A POLICE officer was allegedly given a Starbucks coffee with 'PIG' written on the label in an ungrateful Thanksgiving gesture.

Police Chief Johnny O'Mara, of the Kiefer Police Department in Oklahoma, said an on-duty policeman was trying to do something nice for dispatchers when he was reminded not all people respect cops.

The derogatory term 'PIG' was reportedly printed on all the cups ordered by the policeman – prompting Chief O'Mara to reveal his anger in a lengthy Facebook post.

He wrote: "What irks me is the absolute and total disrespect for a police officer who, instead of being home with family and enjoying a meal and a football game, is patrolling his little town."

Chief O'Mara described the cup of coffee as "another little flag" – something that makes police question "Why am I doing this?"

The Facebook post continued: "It’s another tiny symptom and a nearly indiscernible shout from a contemptuous, roaring and riotous segment of a misanthropic society that vilifies those who stand for what’s right and glorifies the very people who would usher in the destruction of the social fabric."

When Chief O'Mara confronted the Starbucks, they offered to replace the coffee with a correct label.

But he lost trust in the store as being tricked once was enough.

Starbucks replied to Chief O'Mara's Facebook post hours after it was shared: "This is totally unacceptable and offensive to all law enforcement. We are deeply sorry and have apologized directly to the officer who experienced this.

"We have launched an internal investigation into this matter and our leaders would like to connect with you directly to apologize to you and the entire department."

Starbucks spokesman Jory Mendes said the barista has been suspended pending the investigation results, according to Fox 25.

Despite Starbucks apology, Chief O'Mara stressed a need for "a little bit more decency in the world" from people on an individual level.

Chief O'Mara told Fox25: "A little courtesy goes a long way."
