The Little Caesars restaurant in Fargo, North Dakota, noticed a homeless man going through their bins and decided to do something about it.
A note on the pizzeria’s door read: “To the person going through our trash for their next meal, you’re a human being and worth more than a meal from a dumpster.
“Please come in during operating hours for a couple slices of hot pizza and a cup of water at no charge. No questions asked.”
The kind note was posted over a year ago, and still the image is doing the rounds on social media.
After the image went viral in August 2017, general manager Michelle Lussier told local news outlet Valley News Live: "Don’t feel embarrassed if you’re hungry and you don’t want to do what others do, you know stand on the corner for hand-outs.
“You feel down about that, you’re more than welcome to come here and grab a couple slices.
One Facebook users said "the Human Race is still worth a bit" after posting about the note.
It’s unclear if the homeless man ever did come in and receive some food, but the Little Caesars branch also donates leftover pizza to the homeless.
Every night at closing time, the pizzeria donates whatever is left from the day to local area homeless shelters.
More than 15 per cent of customers also leave their change in a collection box to buy even more pizzas for the shelters, according to local reports, and since opening, the restaurant had donated more than 90,000 slices.
