Pensioner, 80, arrested for ‘murder’ after woman in her 80s found dead at Essex house – The Sun

AN 80-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman in her 80s was found dead at a house in Essex, according to police.

The woman's body was found at the adress on Padgett's Way in Hockley at 1.50pm on Sunday.

Essex Police were called to the incident by the ambulance service.

The suspect remains in police custody.

Police said that a man was also found injured inside the property and taken to hospital for treatment.

It is not currently clear whether the injured man is the same man who has been arrested.

Officers remain at the address and inquiries continue, but the force have said they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

A large police cordon was erected at the end of the street and remained in place throughout the afternoon, but was removed shortly before 6pm.

One witness, who wanted to remain anonymous, told EssexLive: “There has been police coming and going since about 1.30pm.

“There was also two ambulances. There was lots of police up the street.”

A statement on the Essex Police website said: "Anyone who was in the area at the time and heard or saw anything suspicious or anyone with information can contact the South Major Crime Team on 101 or email [email protected].
