This is the adorable moment a penguin plays chase with a little girl at an aquarium. 

While visiting Jenkinsons Aquarium in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, Katie and her daughter Arianna stumbled upon the flightless feathered friend. 

Noticing the five-year-old, the black and white bird is instantly mesmerised, and as soon as Arianna starts moving the penguin does the same. 

Running back and forth in front of the glass, the penguin closely follows Arianna’s pointed finger. 

The African penguin swims down into the water while often coming back up for air even though, they can dive underwater for up to two-and-a-half minutes.

It glides through the water and hastily flaps its wings to catch up with Arianna who runs in front of the glass.

The inquisitive bird even spots Arianna as she appears to hide behind a pole.

Arianna giggles watching the penguin as her mother says, ‘he likes you.’ 

The African penguin colony is known to make donkey-like braying sounds to communicate. 

They live on a diet of small fish such as anchovies and sardines and live in inshore coastal waters where the temperature is 5-20C (41-68F).
