Paramedics treat 24 people after a chemical leak in vents at Sydney hotel

An ambulance spokesman said they were called to the Pullman Hotel to reports mixed chemicals were in the air vents.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports the odour came from the 22nd floor of the hotel.

Six asthmatic patients were taken to a nearby hospital after 10 ambulance crews rushed to the scene.

A fire and rescue spokesman said after investigating fire crews discovered it a spill of pool chlorine near a ventilation area.

Three floors of the hotel were evacuated as a precaution.

Four fire crews remained on scene to make sure the area was safe for everyone to go back inside.

Last month a Glasgow shopping centre was evacuated after a reported chemical spill – with witnesses claiming some "went into fits of spontaneous coughing."

Hundreds were ushered out of the centre in Pollok while specialist teams arrived on the scene.
