New York University is switching to remote classes on Wednesday at all of its US campuses to help safeguard against the spread of the coronavirus, school officials said Monday.
“We are implementing a number of additional actions to keep the NYU community healthy and to contribute to checking the spread of the coronavirus,” school administrators, including President Andrew Hamilton, announced in an email to the campus community.
The university will stick with remote classes until at least March 27, the school said. NYU’s spring break is from March 16 to March 20.
Once students return from break, “the University will communicate if and for how much longer we will continue with remotely-held classes,” the email said.
“Under any circumstances, classes will be held through the end of the semester to ensure the academic continuity and progress of our students,” it continued.
NYU — who already shuttered its Florence outpost over coronavirus concerns — is just the latest area school to close amid the deadly virus outbreak.
