Nigel Farage's GB News show beats BBC News Channel and Sky

Nigel Farage’s GB News show beats BBC News Channel and Sky: 107,000 tuned in for ex-Brexit Party chief’s 7pm Tuesday slot – 14,000 more than taxpayer-funded rival, TV figures show

  • The former Brexit Party chief raked in 107,700 watchers for last night’s 7pm show
  • Sky could only muster 35,200 while the Beeb managed to get 93,300 watchers
  • Mr Farage’s show beat the BBC by more than 14,000 viewers and Sky by 72,500

Nigel Farage’s GB News show has beaten the BBC News Channel and Sky News in the ratings war, viewing figures reveal.

The former Brexit Party chief raked in 107,700 watchers for his 7pm show – stuffing BBC Outside Source and Sky News Tonight.

Sky could only muster 35,200 while the Beeb managed to get 93,300 eyes on screen last night.

It means Mr Farage’s show beat the BBC by more than 14,000 viewers and Sky by a staggering 72,500.

The news may be seen as vindication for the channel after it was reported earlier this month some shows had attracted zero viewers.

Last Monday Mr Farage opened his show saying a political gesture made by a ‘part-time presenter’ would not have been allowed on any channel in the UK.

The former UKIP leader also downplayed technical difficulties the channel has faced saying ‘things are changing’.

Mr Farage appears on GB News from 7pm to 8pm from Monday to Thursday because he believes in founder Andrew Neil, he said.

He claimed the need for GB News has never been greater as there is ‘almost no diversity in British broadcast media’.

He told viewers: ‘They pretty much take the same centre-Left liberal woke, pro-cancel culture view on virtually everything.’

He addressed broadcaster Guto Harri’s decision to quit the channel after being suspended for taking the knee on air against racism.

The broadcaster was dropped for making the gesture after the outpouring of racial slurs at the three black England footballers who missed penalties in the Euro 2020 final against Italy.

But the former BBC correspondent, 55, left the channel saying he had ‘no option now but to resign’.

Mr Farage said: ‘There was a part time presenter, who made a political gesture that wouldn’t have been allowed on any channel in the United Kingdom, and he’s gone.’

The hour-long show has focused on topics such as the ‘pingdemic’ as well as issues including potential vaccine passports for large gatherings.

Mr Farage has also drank ‘India Pale Ale’ against a pub-like studio backdrop with Sir Graham Brady, chairman of the 1922 Committee of backbench Conservative MPs.
