Two in five of them — 42 per cent — confess that they are more interested in playing with their smartphone than their partner.
A fifth of relationships are marred by bickering over smartphone use, while a quarter of men and a fifth of women aged 25 to 34 have shunned nookie to use their phones.
Nearly a quarter put off sex to check their work emails.
Online searches, playing games and looking at social media were also common excuses.
Half of the 2,000 folk surveyed by gadget insurance firm Loveit Coverit said they spent more time on their phones than exercising.
And 16 per cent said phone usage exceeded the time they spend talking to their partner.
Meanwhile, three quarters of young Brits can’t go to the loo without taking their phones.
Psychologist Corinne Sweet said: “It’s clear that many of us are glued to our gadgets in an almost addictive way.
“Taking a phone break, especially in the bedroom, is definitely important for both our mental health and well-being.”
