Mum let rapist husband abuse girl, 8, until she got pregnant so she could be his ‘inferior wife’ – The Sun

A MUM let her paedo husband abuse and rape a young girl for seven years until she gave birth to his child at the age of 15, a court heard.

Brandon Irving Helms, 34, told his wife Marcy Lynn Helms, 39, he wanted the girl to be his “concubine” and forced the girl to call him “Lord”.

He abused the girl from when she was aged eight and started raping her when she 13, assaulting the girl at different houses in North Carolina, US.

The teen was raped throughout her pregnancy and she endured a two-and-a-half-day labour with no medical help to deliver her abuser’s baby on a table.

She was then moved into a filthy condemned house when the family became homeless, living there with her baby.

On Tuesday, Brandon Irving Helms was jailed for at least 88 years for rape of a child younger than 15 and child sexual abuse.

He entered an Alford plea, which means Helms did not admit guilt but acknowledged prosecutors had enough evidence to convict him at trial.

Marcy Lynn Helms admitted she knew the girl was being abused and pleaded guilty to attempted statutory rape of a child younger than 15.

She has now been jailed for up to 31 years and will have to register as a sex offender for 30 years.

LIVED IN CONDEMNED HOME

The mum was also convicted for allowing the girl and her baby to live in an abandoned house that was set to be demolished.

The house was boarded up and had no running water.

Social workers and Winston-Salem police testified that the house smelled of poo and that it had unsteady floors and a tarp covering a hole in one of the ceilings.

The relationship between Mary Lynn Helms and her husband’s victim has not been shared, to protect the child’s identity.

The court heard how Brandon Irving Helms claimed to have started a religion to justify abusing the child.

WANTED A CHILD 'CONCUBINE'

Forsyth County Assistant District Attorney Kia Chavious told the court Brandon Helms wanted the girl to be his “concubine” – which means mistress or lesser wife.

The teen victim sat in the courtroom on Tuesday behind the prosecutor’s desk.

Judge David Hall called her a remarkable young woman.

“Thank you, your honor,” she said.

The girl and her own child are now in foster care.

Brandon Helms took everything from the girl and the other children, the prosecutor said.

“He gave all of them a life sentence,” Chavious said.
