Mum in her 20s killed in three-car crash that left three others seriously injured

A YOUNG mum-of-two was killed in a devastating three-car smash in Hertfordshire last night.

The woman who tragically died at the scene was in her 20s and a passenger in a Fiat 500.

Emergency services rushed to St Albans Road in Hemel Hempstead just before 5pm yesterday.

The driver of the Fiat, also a woman in her 20s, has also been left seriously injured from the crash.

A silver BMW and a white Toyota were the other cars involved, the two drivers were also injured – one of them severely.

Sergeant Tom Daly, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are very much with the family of the young woman who sadly lost her life, and we are conducting extensive enquiries to determine the circumstances of the collision.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken with police.

"Equally, if you have a working dash cam fitted to your vehicle and you were travelling along St Albans Road at the time of the incident, we would like to hear from you.

Our thoughts are very much with the family of the young woman who sadly lost her life, and we are conducting extensive enquiries to determine the circumstances of the collision.

“If you live in the vicinity of the collision and have either CCTV or a doorbell camera fitted to your property, please get in touch as you may have captured something of interest.”

An air ambulance, Essex Fire Service and several police cars were also called to the scene and the road was completely closed off.

Photos of the crash scene show numerous ambulances and paramedics on hand.

A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service added: "I can confirm that we were called to St Alban’s road shortly before 5pm yesterday following reports of a collision.

"We sent four ambulances, a rapid response vehicle, an ambulance officer and two Essex and Herts Air Ambulance helicopters.

"Crews treated three patients at the scene and transported two to hospital for further assessment and care.

"Sadly, despite the best efforts of everyone involved, a third patient died at the scene."

The victim's family have been informed and are being supported by family liaison officers.
