Miss France hopeful Morgane Rolland dies after being run over by tractor-trailer

A Miss France hopeful and volunteer firefighter died after being run over by a tractor-trailer while riding her bicycle, local reports said.

Morgane Rolland, 22, was biking with a friend on a small country road in Loire last week when she veered to avoid a car, and ran right into the farming vehicle, Le Figaro reported.

The young beauty queen’s bike got stuck between the tractor and its log-filled trailer, and she got pulled under, the report said.

She was rushed to the hospital via helicopter, but was declared dead on arrival.

In an emotional post, Sylvie Tellier, the national director of the Miss France Organization, paid tribute to Rolland, and sent thoughts to her parents and fiance.

“When fate steals the life of a young woman of 22 years, we can only be shaken by the tragedy,” Tellier wrote on Instagram. “Have a good voyage to the land of angels, beautiful Morgane!”

In addition to being a pageant contestant, Tellier was a volunteer firefighter in her hometown.

She was the 2017 runner-up of the Miss Loire contest and participated in a 2018 pageant that would have sent her to compete for Miss France had she won.

The male friend she’d been biking with and the tractor’s driver weren’t injured, but were “very shocked,” officials said.
