Meghan Markle's half-sister Samantha brands Duchess 'worse than the Grinch' in brutal Christmas message

She also sent the Duchess of Sussex a Christmas card asking her to “end the rift with Dad” who said he’d been “shunned and ghosted” by his daughter.

Meghan’s dad Thomas said he’d not spoken to his daughter for more than six months and last week appealed to the Queen to help heal the rift between them in a TV interview.

The 74-year-old said he had not chatted to his daughter since her wedding and had not received a Christmas card or a reply to the messages he had sent every day for weeks.

The duchess's father caused embarrassment by staging paparazzi photographs before her wedding, which he did not attend on medical grounds.

He also gave interviews in which he said, among other things, that Prince Harry was "open to the experiment of Brexit".

Samantha, a paternal half-sister of Meghan, has now urged her to “remember the man who was Santa your entire life”.

She told the Daily Star Online: “It’s the time of year to reflect on how precious life is.

“It is a time to remember family, especially dad who was Santa your entire life.

“Even the grinch grew a heart.”

She also sent the royal a card saying it was “time” she reunited with her dad.

In a picture of the card published by the Sunday Mirror, Samantha wrote: "Holidays are a time for family and are sentimental.

"Dad has been trying to contact you and is very hurt because you are avoiding him.

"Life is short and you know Dad is wonderful. Please give him joy in his last years by showing you love him. The time is now."

In an interview Samantha, 54, who lives in the US, added: “I think Meg would harbour a lot of regret if this were his last Christmas alive and she didn’t reach out and make things right.

“There is not another day or week guaranteed, so Meg needs to act quickly. The clock is ticking.

“You can’t be a humanitarian on the world stage if you can’t be a humanitarian in your own family.”

Samantha also hit out at Prince Harry, 34, saying: “We all looked up to him but he doesn’t seem to care anything about this family.

“Whether you’re royal or not, you married into our family too and nobody is above being decent.”

Speaking from San Diego during an interview with Good Morning Britain last week, Mr Markle made a public appeal to his daughter to get in touch.

He said: "I'm hopeful that soon something will be resolved and we'll be talking. This can't continue forever.

"People are saying I should be quiet about this and not speak, if I don't speak, they will speak to me. That hasn't happened. I don't plan to be silent for the rest of my life.

"I love my daughter very much and she has to know that. I would really appreciate if she would just call me, reach out to me somehow, send me a text, just say you're there and you're hearing me."
