Two filmmaker friends of Hollywood stars Margot Robbie and Cara Delevingne were spotted being led out of prison after being arrested for assaulting a paparazzo over the weekend.

Hopkins and MacNamara were arrested after allegedly assaulting photographer Pedro Alberto Orquera when they spotted him taking snaps of Robbie and Delevingne while eating at a celebrity restaurant in Buenos Aires in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The pair reportedly chased Orquera down outside the restaurant, then slammed him onto the concrete before attempting to smash his camera.

Orquera, who suffered several cuts and a broken arm in the attack, told Argentine outlet TN he was able to protect his equipment and the prized shots he’d taken, but at a considerable cost.

‘I suffered a brutal aggression… My life was saved by a miracle, I don’t know what would have happened if I fell head first to the ground, with the speed that those people chased after me,’ Orquera said.

‘They never took my material from me… when I fell to the ground [the camera] was smashed but I was able to save the material.’

MacNamara and Hopkins were arrested by police and taken in for questioning following the act of aggression, while Robbie and Delevingne fled the scene.

Orquera meanwhile was placed into a neck brace and stretchered to the nearby Argerich Hospital in the Argentine capital, where he remains following initial treatment and is awaiting surgery for his badly broken arm.

He told TN his arm was severely injured and it is unknown whether he will regain full use of the limb.

‘I have a cast on my right arm, my arm is very compromised and I don’t know if I’m going to lose it,’ he claimed.

According to TMZ however, a source said Orquera was actually the aggressor, and that he rushed the actresses as they were climbing into an Uber causing the driver to start driving off in fright while Robbie was only halfway into the car.

The source said Orquera continued snapping as Robbie lay on the ground after leaping from the moving car, and that he tripped and hurt himself after running off when MacNamara and Hopkins moved in to help.

The A-list actresses had been getting into a car outside the Argentine celebrity chef Francis Mallmann’s restaurant at around 3am on Sunday morning when the incident involving Orquera took place.

According to Orquera, his presence angered MacNamara and Hopkins, who chased after him as he fled, ultimately catching up and sending him crashing to the ground.

The impact of the fall shattered his right arm, and he sustained a series of lacerations.

‘I started running away from them because they were hitting me,’ Orquera told The Sun. ‘While I was running from them they kicked me hard so my camera went up in the air and I fell on the floor and injured my arm.’

Witnesses are understood to have called emergency services when the altercation broke out after it became clear that Orquera had sustained a nasty injury.

Police meanwhile took the British filmmakers in for questioning, after which they appeared in court on the order from the Prosecutor’s Office for causing ‘serious injuries’.

A police report seen by The Sun shows that MacNamara and Hopkins told officers that Orquera was ‘responsible for his own injuries’ because the two actresses had not given consent to be pictured.

Robbie and Delevingne meanwhile opted to leave the film-makers behind, flying to the south of Argentina just hours after the attack took place.

Orquera is planning to file a lawsuit against his attackers, alleging that the injuries he sustained as a result of their aggression will prevent him from being able to work.

‘The most unfortunate thing [about the attack] is that it leaves me immobile, unable to work or move,’ Orquera said.

‘I am no longer going to be able to do any work and I don’t know if I am going to get my arm back the way it should be.’

MailOnline has approached Robbie and Delevingne for comment on the alleged incident.

Margot Robbie was spotted on the verge of tears as she left a West Hollywood home in September just hours after meeting with Cara Delevingne in Los Angeles. It comes amid rumors that Delevingne is experiencing health concerns following a series of absences from large events and erratic behavior

The starlets reportedly became close in 2016 when they worked on the DC comic-inspired Suicide Squad film, in which Robbie, 32, gained considerable notoriety for her portrayal of the racy Harley Quinn while Delevingne played a character named Enchantress.

The pair had travelled to Argentina after attending Paris fashion week events early last week, and Robbie was spotted in Argentina on Friday, stopping to take pictures with some fans.

The attack on Orquera during the starlets’ stay in Argentina comes less than a month after Robbie was pictured leaving the home of her close friend in West Hollywood, seemingly in tears, amid rumors that British supermodel Delevingne was struggling with health concerns.

Delevingne, 30, failed to show up to the launch of her fashion collection honoring late designer Karl Lagerfeld, which was held at chic restaurant Saga in the New York City’s Financial District in early September.

Nor was Delevingne present at the Emmy Awards on September 13, where her cast mates in the series Only Murders in the Building were nominated for a series of awards.

A source close to the Delevingne family told The Sun that the star was struggling and had been ‘burning the candle at both ends’ as of late.
