Man wearing MMA gloves kicks stranger into path of oncoming tube train

A Brazilian man has been arrested after he kicked a stranger into the path of a tube train in Madrid.

The 23-year-old Spaniard who was targeted in the random attack cheated death after falling in the hole between the tracks.

Horrifying footage showed the aggressor coming up behind the man as the tube train approached the crowded platform and sending him over the edge with the karate-style kick.

The incident took place just before 10am yesterday morning in Arguelles metro station, in the central Madrid neighbourhood of the same name.

Police sources quoted by the Spanish press said the Brazilian was wearing Mixed Martial Arts gloves used in the full-contact combat sport when he was arrested.

The victim miraculously suffered only minor injuries with the train missing him by inches because of his quick thinking.

The CCTV footage of the nightmare incident showed him recovering in a split-second and managing to get to the side of the track out of the way of harm.

Other commuters, some of whom were initially filmed running for safety in their confusion over what had happened, held the 27-year-old Brazilian before he was taken away by security guards and handed over to police to be arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide.

Local reports said he was was known to police following a spate of incidents in recent weeks which included two arrests for wounding.

Respected Spanish newspaper El Pais said he had been detained on June 7 after smashing up a bar and attacking clients and the owner. One of the people he attacked is said to have suffered a broken elbow.

Paul Crossley, 47, was jailed for life at the Old Bailey in June for pushing former Eurotunnel chairman Sir Robert Malpas off theplatform at Marble Arch station on the London Underground in a random attack.

He suffered a head wound and broken pelvis in the attack in April 2018.
