Man robs swanky jewelry vending machine using fake credit cards: cops

Cops are on the hunt for a man who used fraudulent credit cards to swipe approximately $13,000 worth of fine jewelry — from a vending machine, according to officials.

The suspect was caught on surveillance cameras outside the luxury William Vale hotel in Williamsburg on Thursday using the swanky jewelry dispenser, which was reportedly created by Manhattan-based designer Marla Aaron.

The items inside the machine range between $165 to $1,588 for things such as lock necklaces and silver link chains. Cops did not say what pieces were purchased by the man.

Footage shows the suspect wearing a black Nike t-shirt — which says “RUN” — and gray pants. He is believed to be between 20 and 30 years old.

The dispenser that got robbed was placed outside the William Vale hotel, near Vale Park, earlier this year after being unveiled at the Brooklyn Museum in November 2017.

Its creator had planned heavily for this day, and even admitted in a website video that “it’s crazy to put jewelry in a vending machine.” But she always thought someone would try to steal the machine itself.

“It weighs a ton — literally,” Aaron told the Brooklyn Paper back in August. “The park is locked at night, generally there’s lots of people in it.”

Cops were still searching for the thief as of Sunday night.
