A man has narrowly escaped serious injury after plummeting from a tree that snapped from underneath him.

The lucky man had dangerously climbed his way to the top of the tree, about six metres in height, on the Surfers Paradise foreshore in the Gold Coast.

Footage shows the young dare devil, dressed in a white t-shirt, latching onto branches of the tree during a quiet evening on the promenade.

The video-taker encourages the climber by wooing as he begins to swing the branches back and forth, Seven News reported.

After rocking from one side to another, the top quarter of the tree snaps and sends the young man to the floor.

The man fell several metres to the ground, followed by the broken tree branch.
