Little boy unimpressed with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry falls asleep during their Tonga visit

However, one broadcaster suggested the little boy, in traditional Tongan dress, was simply being cheeky and just playing dead.

Either way, the funny image above reveals the lighter side Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's visit to Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand.

It shows the boy lying on the floor at the function, apparently fast asleep, with his antics making at least one woman laugh at the Fa'onelua Centre.

He had been sitting patiently with other local children and adults, waiting for the arrival of the Duke and Duchess to carry out their first official engagement in Tonga.

According to Nine.com.au, though, the boy had initially held up a cute sign offering “free hugs” to Meghan and Harry before he started “fooling about on the floor before playing dead”.

While at the Fa’onelua Convention Centre, the Royals were presented with traditional Tongan Kiekie (dress) at a handicraft market.

They were also shown local products, including traditional mats and “tapa” cloth, carvings, bracelets made from whale bone and wood, reports the Mirror.

Princess Angelika Lātūfuipeka spoke while the pair sat on throne-like chairs in the room.

The Tongan princess had welcomed  Prince Harry and Meghan on Thursday when they arrived in the tiny South Pacific nation, before driving into the capital as thousands of schoolchildren cheered and waved flags along the way.

She described the royals as “an inspiration to the youth of the Commonwealth” for “shining a light on youth empowerment”.

During the couple’s visit to Tonga, Harry said he and Meghan felt “very much as though I am coming to visit an extended family.

"My grandparents have visited a number of times. We have a strong bond as members of the Commonwealth; we share so much history and common values."

Dancers in woven skirts and necklaces crafted from red flowers and feathers in their hair sang and clapped to welcome the royal couple to the Polynesian kingdom, made up of 170 mostly uninhabited islands.

Red-and-white balloons and streamers dotted the route of their motorcade into Nuku’alofa, the capital, while schoolchildren in red and white uniforms waved small plastic British and Tongan flags and cheered excitedly.

After spending the past four days in Fiji and Tonga, Prince Harry and Meghan have landed back in Sydney, to attend the Australian Geographic Society Awards.

They will head out to the final day of the Invictus Games tomorrow.
