Lion Air crash victim’s fiance has ‘wedding’ alone to fulfill his final wish

A woman fulfilled her deceased partner’s final wish by posing for wedding photographs without him.

Intan Syari, 26, was due to wed partner Rio Nanda Pratama in a ceremony on November 11 before tragedy struck.

Mr Pratama perished alongside 189 crew and passengers on board Lion Air Flight JT610 which crashed shortly after take off from Soekarno Hatta International airport, near Jakarta, on October 29.

Pictures show how Indonesian Ms Sayari posed for the poignant photo shoot alone while wearing a traditional white dress and wedding ring.

The tragic bride uploaded the pictures to her Instagram account, and wrote: "Even though I feel grief that I cannot describe, I still have to smile for you.

"I cannot be sad but should be strong like you always told me to be."


Ms Syari claimed her fiance was her "first love" and had known him for over 13 years after meeting in middle school in their hometown of Pangkal Pinang.

Mr Pratama, who was trainee medical doctor, was returning home after attending a conference in Jakarta when he took the doomed flight.


Ms Intan wrote on her Instagram account @intansyariii that Rio jokingly told her before leaving: "If I don’t return by 11 November, you should still wear your wedding gown that I chose for you"

"Wear beautiful make-up, ask for a white roses. Take good photos and send them to me."

In another photo, she also said: : "Although you are not beside me, your sister was with me to fulfil your most beautiful last wish. I know you are happy up there…"

Air crash investigators have not yet confirmed why Lion Air flight plunged into into the the sea off the coast of Indonesia last month.

The flight recorder shows that four of the aircraft’s flights had experienced issues with the airspeed indicator.

The box was recovered after Flight JT610 slammed into the ocean off the coast of Indonesia last Monday morning, leaving no survivors.

The nearly-new Boeing 737 MAX 8 is believed to have sunk after crashing into the Java Sea only 13 minutes after take-off.



"After 10 minutes in the air the plane dropped as if it was losing power, people panicked," one transport safety committee member said. "It dropped about 400 feet."

He claimed he had confirmed how far the aircraft dropped while flying from Bali to Jakarta using a flight-tracking website.
