Karim Benzema kidnap scandal as ‘three people close to Real Madrid star arrested over alleged abduction of ex-agent’

The agent, Leo D'Souz, filed a lawsuit after claiming a black van pulled up to him and a man, who he alleged was a close childhood friend of Benzema's, told him to get in.

French news outlet Le Point claimed the arrests of three people close to the striker – two men and a woman – were made on November 13 in Paris.

According to Mediapart, the striker's ex-representative Leo D'Souza filed a lawsuit on October 8 claiming he was the victim of an attempted abduction – allegations Benzema, 30, insisted were a fabrication.

He tweeted at the time: “A relative of Benzema touches De Souza’s arm, it is an abduction.

“De Souza is beaten up, but he has no days signed off work”

“De Souza says that Benzema was in the van, an idea dismissed by the investigators.

“Is this world serious? #Ithastostop #Givemeabreak #toomuch”.

According to Mediapart, a dispute between the pair developed over £44,000 which was seized by customs at Marrakech airport in Morocco.

The unconfirmed report adds that D'Souza is claiming an attempted abduction took place outside a shisha bar on October 7.

D'Souza claims to have been punched when he refused to get in the vehicle before people from the bar get involved.

Mediapart says it was quickly discovered Benzema was not at the scene of the attempted kidnapping.

However, it says the two men involved left the bar and went to a hotel where the French striker – who denies the attempted abduction took place – was staying.
