Judge in astonishing courtroom blast at mum of tearaway teen who called out he was a 'good kid really'

The lad, 16, led cops on two high-speed chases through Liverpool and helped an accomplice nick EIGHT cars from a depot.

He then hurled bricks and loose tiles at officers during a 13-hour rooftop stand-off – but said he was a "good kid really".

Judge Clement Goldstone hauled the lout's mum to court and fumed: "What do you think you might have failed to do as his mum that’s landed him in the mess he’s in now?

"Do you not understand why you are here? Have you seen the number of times he’s been in trouble?"

He added that the boy – who cannot be named for legal reasons – had an "appalling" school record and faced a "stark choice" between jail time and home supervision.

Speaking at Liverpool Crown Court, the mum wept: "He’s a good kid really. He got involved with the wrong crowd.

"I will make him do what he’s got to do and I will do what I’ve got to do to keep him out of trouble.

"His attitude has changed since he’s been in detention and he’s saying he wants to go to college and change."

Together with Jamie Carr, 20, the boy was involved in two high-speed chases with cops as they stole eight cars from a We Buy Any Car depot.

They were arrested just days later after a 13-hour police stand-off on a roof.

The unnamed teen was slapped with two year rehabilitation order and a six month curfew.

Carr was jailed for 18 months and banned from the road for two years and nine months.
