A jilted wife punched her cheating husband’s mistress outside the school gates after discovering the affair.

Mother Lauren Gray, 38, hit fellow parent Amanda Boylan in the face and grabbed her by the hair after telling her ‘I want a word with you!’

Gray, who pleaded guilty to assault is now said to be ‘working through’ the issues with her husband Steven Gray, who married in 2005.

Prosecutors said the attack took place at around 3pm on January 30 while both Gray and Miss Boylan were at the school.

Procurator Fiscal Depute Saud Ul-Hassan, said: ‘Miss Boylan heard the accused behind her shouting, ‘I want a word with you’.

‘Miss Boylan ignored the accused and walked in to the gates of the school.

‘She started walking back to her car.

‘The accused and Miss Boylan then exchanged words about an allegation involving the witness and the accused’s husband.

‘The accused punched her in the face and seized her by the hair then made off in her motor vehicle.’

The fight was also captured on CCTV, but the footage was not shown in court, and Gray was charged with assault, the Daily Record reports.

Defence solicitor David Nicholson said: ‘There is a background to this in so far as there was an infidelity between Mrs Gray’s husband and the complainer.

‘This was the first coming together between her and the complainer and tempers and emotions were high.

‘There was an exchange and she reacted in this manner – it was spontaneous.

‘Emotions were high and she felt significantly wronged. She apologises for her conduct.

‘She and her husband and now working through the issues that led to this particular incident.’

Sheriff Colin Pettigrew fined Gray £400 for the offence and ordered her to pay the fine at the rate of £40 every four weeks.
