Secluded beach houses, native bush tucker and an exclusive spa: Inside the luxury resort where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will spend the night on Fraser Island

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will spend Monday on stunning Fraser Island, off the coast of Queensland, to officially dedicate the area’s rainforest to the Queens Commonwealth Canopy.
During their time on the Island, the couple will be based at the luxurious Kingfisher Bay Resort, which boasts secluded beach houses, timber lodges surrounded by the bush, and eco-friendly hotel rooms.
The expecting Duchess of Sussex will forgo her royal duties for the day due to the rough terrain of the island, but there will be plenty for her to do even as a tourist.
Kensington Palace has confirmed Meghan will spend Monday relaxing at the resort, where the couple will spend the night, but she is hoped to be well enough for a meet and greet with the public in the afternoon.
The area is known for its whale watching opportunities, and, if she’s looking for an even more relaxing experience, a day-spa which uses native ingredients and healing practices is a stone’s throw away.

While Prince Harry completes his royal duties, Ms Markle will be taking it easy, as she is not able to travel along the roads of the Island
The Duchess of Sussex might visit the resort’s day spa, which features native Australian plants in its treatments
The couple are hoped to reunite at the end of the day, where they will walk along the jetty (pictured) together
While the resort has pristine beaches and clear waters, the royal couple will also have access to a pool surrounded by bushland and cushioned sun lounges.
Known to be a big foodie, Meghan Markle will also be able to indulge in cuisine featuring native bush tucker at the Kingfisher Bay Resort’s restaurant, Seabelle.
The couple will be following in the Prince of Wales’ footsteps, as the royal enjoyed a stay at the exclusive resort in 1994.

Prince Harry will have less time to soak up the spoils of the resort, as he will spend Monday unveiling a plaque for the dedication of the Forests of K’gari to the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy.
His father, Prince Charles, added the Island to the Canopy in April this year during his visit to Bundaberg.
The Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy raises awareness of indigenous forests, and allows countries in the Commonwealth to exchange knowledge and ideas about the best practice for forest conservation.

Prince Charles stayed at the Kingfisher Bay Resort in 1994, and announced the nearby Forests of K’gari would be added to the Queens Commonwealth Canopy – which helps with conservation efforts – in April this year
The resort has been fully booked out, as have tickets to get to the Island for the day, indicating the Prince may have a big crowd awaiting him
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex (pictured) recently announced they were expecting their first child, and the pregnancy has affected Meghan Markle’s ability to participate in the entirety of the tour
While Meghan takes it easy on Monday, there will still be plenty for her to see and do, with pristine waterways and quiet beaches found in abundance on the island

The Duke of Sussex will then head to Lake McKenzie, and meet with local elders to learn about the history of the island, before heading down to 75 Mile beach.
Prince Harry is expected to take particular interest in his visit to the beach, as it served as a training base for an elite Z Special Force Unit during World War II.
The unit used the area to prepare for jungle and amphibious training ahead of missions into Asia, and are credited with playing a major role in Australia’s victory at Singapore Harbour.
The ruins of the Z Force Commando School remain on the western side of the island, nearby the resort.
Later, the Duke will head to Kingfisher Bay and walk along the jetty, hopefully with Ms Markle.
The couple are expected to be greeted by an enthusiastic crowd of fans, as tickets to cross to Kingfisher Bay have sold out for the day.
The resort is the largest sand island in the world, but is also home to a little-known part of Australian military history. The beach served as a training base for an elite Z Special Force Unit during World War II
