Iceland gives away Nando’s-style ‘black card’ that will give customers a year’s worth of free frozen chicken
- Five VIC (Very Important Chicks) cards will be hidden in stores around country
- The supermarket chain says its ploy is to celebrate hard-working mothers
Iceland is giving away ‘black cards’ which will give shoppers a year’s supply of free frozen chicken.
The cards, five of which will be hidden in stores across the country from today, can be used to choose from its range of 215 frozen chicken products.
The supermarket says it wants to celebrate mothers with its V.I.C (Very Important Chicks) card.
The ploy is reminiscent of restaurant chain Nando’s famous ‘black card’, officially known as the High Five Card, which gives holders and four of their friends unlimited free meals for a year.

Famous owners of the Nandos card include singers Ed Sheeran and Niall Horan.
Shoppers who find a VIC card will need to notify a staff member to verify the win.
Online shoppers can also nominate someone to win one on Iceland’s Instagram page. The social media winner will be randomly selected by Iceland on May 23.
The products up for grabs with the card include Iceland’s crispy chicken strips and dippers.
Samuel Robbins-Wells, Head of Category at Iceland, said: ‘Unlike other brands, our V.I.C card is created with mums in mind.

Other celebrities who are alleged to have a Nando’s Black Card include Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton, tennis player Andy Murray and former footballer David Beckham.
Rapper Tinchy Stryder and Olympic boxer Nicola Adams confess to having one. Nando’s has refused to publicly admit that the cards exist.
