Hundreds join woodland search for missing mother of five who disappeared 12 days ago

Sarah Wellgreen, a 46-year-old beautician, was last seen on Tuesday, October 9
Hundreds of volunteers have joined a huge search for a mother-of-five who vanished nearly two weeks ago.
They scoured woodland close to Sarah Wellgreen’s home in New Ash Green near Dartford, Kent, as concern grew for her safety last night.
Miss Wellgreen, a 46-year-old beautician, was last seen on Tuesday, October 9.
One resident helping out on the search, who asked not to be named, said: ‘Everyone is so shocked that Sarah just vanished. As a community we wanted to help out, so we approached Kent Police and they were happy for us to help out.
‘There were about 100 people throughout Saturday and also about 100 today. Police seem to be focusing on woodland area.’
Miss Wellgreen’s car was left at home during the evening of her disappearance. It was reported that she has not used her bank card or mobile phone since her disappearance.
An area of woodland close to her home has been taped off by police officers who have been carrying out a detailed search there since Wednesday. A man in his 30s was arrested last Tuesday in connection with the missing person inquiry, but was released pending further inquiries until Friday, November 16.

Sarah’s son Lewis Burdett, 22, says her disappearance is completely out of character.
He posted on his Facebook page: ‘MISSING!!! My Mum, Sarah Jane Wellgreen, hasn’t been seen or heard from since last Tuesday night. Police have got involved now. Please share this as much as you can – we are all worried about her and miss her.
‘Last seen in New Ash Green Kent, car was left at home, please contact me or 101. The slightest bit of information could help so much, thank you.’
Mr Burdett said: ‘This behaviour is so unlike her – she’s never done anything like this before.’
A Kent Police spokesman said: ‘Inquiries to locate Sarah Wellgreen are continuing and anyone who may have seen her, or has any other information, is asked to call Kent Police.’
