Holidaymaker hospitalised with cut finger after seagull grabbed his cheese and onion roll

Paul Carlyon, 51, who was on a two-week getaway with wife Tina, 50, was enjoying a packed lunch on Paignton beachfront in Devon when he was attacked by the hungry bird.

It happened at Paignton beachfront in Devon.

Teaching assistant Tina, of Loughton, Essex, said: “I couldn’t believe my eyes. There we were enjoying our lunch on some deck chairs overlooking the sea, and the next minute this bird appeared out of nowhere.

“At first it tried to come in between us and I felt it’s wing on my arm.

“Then when Paul wouldn’t give him his food it became really aggressive.

“It bit him a couple of times and flew off.

“The seagulls are out of control on that beach.”

Bleeding Paul, of Loughton, Essex, washed the wound and went to A&E for a tetanus jab.

Last week, The Sun reported how Laura Morgan, 32, had to be treated in hospital for a torn lip after a seagull tried to swipe her McDonald’s breakfast from her mouth.

And pensioners Vic and Margaret Smith have been trapped in their bungalow in Walmer, Kent, by dive-bombing seagulls in their garden.

Last month postman was moved off his particular round after he was repeatedly targeted by the same vicious seagull.
