Hamilton writer’s mom sparks hilarious response after technology fail

The Hamilton writer’s mother has provoked a hilarious response on Twitter after accidentally tweeting her son to ask if he was home – when he was actually more than 3,000 miles away.

Lin Manuel-Miranda’s mother, Luz Towns-Miranda, was apparently trying to ask her son if he had returned to New York when she tweeted him instead.

Mr Manuel-Miranda shared the tweet with his 2.4million followers, adding: ‘Mom, I’m in Wales, move your Twitter app like three screens over from your text app.’

The hip-hop musical star is in Wales at the moment shooting a new TV series based on Phillip Pullman’s His Dark Materials.

The relatable parent fail has racked up more than 12,000 likes and hundreds of replies where users have revealed their own technology issues.

Twitter users have responded with their own stories about their own parents’ technology problems

One user said: ‘Eleven years ago today was my Mom’s funeral. This Tweet was the absolute best possible way to start this particular Monday.’  

Hamilton, the show he wrote, composed, and performed in, has taken the world by storm since it was first performed in 2015, and it was given a record-breaking 11 Tony awards in 2016 including Best Musical.

The show opened in the UK at the Victoria Palace Theatre in London in December 2017 and won seven Olivier Awards. 

It tells the story of founding father Alexander Hamilton, who went on to become George Washington’s right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and helped shape the foundations of modern America. 

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to see the show for a second time on August 29.

The newlyweds first saw a production in London six months ago on a private visit, where they are said to have been applauding enthusiastically.
