Shocking footage shows a group of teenagers relentlessly attacking two men outside a Washington DC hotel earlier this month — in what cops say may be a case of mistaken identity, according to authorities and reports.
The two victims were pummeled by the group of nearly a dozen suspects around 1 a.m. on July 14 in front of a Hilton on Connecticut Avenue in Dupont Circle, according to D.C.’s Metropolitan Police Department and a CNN report.
Someone shouted, “That’s him,” before the crowd swarmed one of the men and began their brutal beatdown, the report states.
Dramatic video released Wednesday shows a lanky man approach the pair in front of the hotel and punch one of the men in the face.
Another guy then joins in and pushes the same victim to the ground as several others gather around stomp on him repeatedly, the video shows.
The group gradually begins to flee — leaving the victim lying on the ground motionless.
As they disperse, one of the suspects stomps the victim in the head and a different person kicks him in the stomach before the video cuts out.
According to the report, the second man then yelled, “That’s not him, you have the wrong person,” before he, too, was assaulted.
Police Chief Peter Newsham said Thursday authorities believe there are 10 to 12 suspects, who are between the ages of 13 and 15.
Both victims were taken to an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries, police said.
