Eric Trump said if he or his older brother, Don Jr., lied on a federal form as Hunter Biden allegedly did in paperwork to buy a pistol — which is the subject of a controversial incident involving the Secret Service — they would be jailed for life.
Eric Trump was asked by Fox host Maria Bartiromo on “Sunday Morning Futures” about the allegations swirling around President Biden’s son and the gun that turned up missing in 2018 — and his involvement in business dealings in China and Ukraine, as reported by The Post last October.
“Obviously, Hunter is a troubled kid, right? There’s no question about that. But if that was Don or I, or if that was anybody in the Trump family, and we lied on a federal form, we’d be in jail for the rest of our lives. We really would be,” former President Donald Trump’s son told Bartiromo.
“And it’s amazing. There’s no one even, there’s no one even talking about that. He lied on multiple questions. It wasn’t just the drug question. He lied on multiple questions,” he said.
“And I think a lot of people, Maria, in this country are sick and tired of the unequal scales of justice,” Eric Trump said.
Asked on the gun purchase transaction receipt whether he was an “unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?” he answered: “No,” Politico reported.
But five years earlier he had been discharged from the Navy Reserve after testing positive for cocaine and he and other Biden family members have been open about his history of drug abuse.
The gun purchase came to light in the report that the Secret Service allegedly intervened after Hunter’s then-girlfriend and former sister-in-law Hallie took the .38-caliber pistol and tossed it in the trash because she believed he was going to kill himself with it.
At the time, Hunter was divorced from his first wife, Kathleen, and was involved with Hallie, the widow of his brother Beau, who died of cancer in 2015.
Eric Trump told Bartiromo that he and his brother are both gun enthusiasts.
“We’re shooters. We’re big advocates of the Second Amendment. You have to sign a form called – it’s called a 4473. The first question is, are you actually the legal buyer of this firearm? And you check yes, right?,” he said.
“But the second question is, have you ever been dishonorably discharged from the military? He obviously lied about that point. Then the third question is, are you under the use of any illegal banned substances, including X, Y and Z? They list a lot of drugs. He lied on that question,” Eric Trump added.
The Secret Service has denied any involvement.
But emails found on Hunter’s hard drive obtained by The Post from the contents of a laptop he left at a Wilmington, Del., repair shop in April 2019 contradicts their claims.
“She stole the gun out of my trunk lock box and threw it in a garbage can full to the top at Jansens [sic]. Then told me it was my problem to deal with,” Hunter wrote.
“Then when the police the FBI the secret service came on the scene she said she took it from me because she was scared I would harm myself due to my drug and alcohol problem and our volatile relationship and that she was afraid for the kids.”
The Macbook Pro laptop was later seized by the FBI, apparently as part of what Hunter last year said is an investigation into his “tax affairs” by the Delaware US Attorney’s Office.
