Donald Trump struggled to pronounce the word ‘anonymous’ on two separate occasions as he gave a speech slamming the opinion piece about him in the New York Times .
The US President was speaking to supporters during a rally in Montana, where he criticised the opinion piece written by an unknown source.
It painted a chaotic picture of life inside the White House, suggesting Trump’s own staff members were working against him.
Addressing the crowd, Trump said: "The latest active resistance is the op-ed published in the failing New York Times by an anonymous, really, an anonymous, gutless coward."
Except the pronunciation was more like ‘anomous’ – on both occasions – as he struggled to get his tongue around the word.
The scathing piece in the New York publication described a "quiet resistance" to Trump and claimed Cabinet members had openly discussed invoking the 25th Amendment – the clause which allows for the President to be removed from office.
The column gave little away about the author’s gender, age, or their role within the administration. Many questioned whether the writer worked in the White House or a federal agency.
Back in December, Trump appeared to slur his worlds during a major speech, as he officially recognised Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
As he finished his addressed, he said: "Thank you. God blesh you. God blesh the Israelis. God blesh the Palestinians and God blesh the United Shtates."
Another passage the President appeared to struggle with read: “And finally I ask the leaders of the region, political and religious, Israeli and Palestinian, Jewish and Christian and Muslim to join us in the noble quest for lasting peace.”
It led to speculation from viewers about the state of the President’s health, with some suggesting he could have had a mini-stroke during the speech, which caused the odd pronunciation.
Others hinted the weird diction could be the result of a new or faulty set of dentures.
But the White House came forward with their own explanation, and played down its significance, stating that Trump simply had a dry throat.
White House spokesman Raj Shah said at the time: "His throat was dry. There’s nothing to it.
Pressed on whether people should be concerned about Trump’s health, he added: "I know what you’re getting at. I’m saying there’s nothing to it."
