Doggy paddling pooches enjoy a dip in Brighton lido as the pool marks the end of the summer season

Dozens of adorable dogs got to enjoy a swim with their humans this weekend.

The pooches got their paws wet at the Saltdean Lido in Brighton as part of an annual end of season fun dog swim.

Labradors and German Shepherds were among the happy canines seen leaping into the pool and chasing tennis balls.

The delighted dogs were videoed swimming happily together and jumping into the water

In an adorable video from the day the happy dogs can be seen swimming alongside their owners and preparing to launch into the water.

One good boy- with a ball in its mouth – can be seen needing a helping hand from its owner to get out of the pool when its paws fail to grip the lido’s edge.

After a shake and a quick swap of a blue ball for a classic yellow tennis ball the adorable black dog runs off ready for another go in the pool.

Other pups can also be seen splashing and spraying their humans as the video continues.

The happy animals continue to bark as they play fetch and wag their tails with joy. 

Tickets for the event which took place over the weekend were sold out.

There were a few rules for the day to make sure everyone had a great time. Each dog had to have a human on a lead, and if the owner wanted to dip in the pool too they had to buy a swim ticket.   

Saltdean Lido Community Interest Company also wrote on Facebook: ‘We have a Zero Tolerance policy towards aggression, so if either you or your Human growl or snarl, you’ll both be asked to leave.’

Deryck Chester, from the Saltdean Lido Community Interest Company, said that the event was such a success it may become an annual tradition, reports the Argus.

He said: ‘This one was more popular than last year. We’re going to make it an annual tradition, I think. It’s a nice way to round of the season. 

‘There are lots of dog lovers in Brighton so we thought it’s a very Brighton thing to come up with this madcap idea.’
