Dog running on tracks halts subway traffic for over an hour

A wayward dog scampering around the tracks brought train traffic on the Williamsburg Bridge to a halt Wednesday night while officials tried to wrangle the pooch.

The dog was first spotted at about 9:50 p.m, and MTA workers immediately cut the power to keep the canine from getting electrocuted, officials said.

There were two Brooklyn-bound trains on the tracks at the time, a J and an M, officials said.

It took cops and rescue workers until after 11 p.m. to catch the frightened Fido, all while the passengers were forced to wait.

One passenger tweeted that the delay caused grumbling aboard the train.

“There is a man yelling in my car about how mad he is about the dog,” tweeted John R. Smith III. “Heard a ladies voice over the speaker asking where the dog is. How can it be that hard to find?? It’s a bridge.”

He said he later saw a cop pass by in the train with a bowl of food — which appeared to be pork fried rice — apparently for the pup.

After grabbing the dog, MTA officials returned the power to the tracks and the trains finally continued.

Cops took the dog — which had tags — to an animal shelter while they tried to contact its owner, officials said.
