Designers unveil a £550m superyacht that doubles as a rescue vessel during hurricanes and boasts a three-storey nightclub, sky bar and infinity pool

Designed in the wake of Hurricane Dorian’s devastation of the Bahamas, this superyacht is said to be storm proof, self-powering, and only costs a mere £550 million.
With capacity for up to 20 guests and 44 crew its makers are offering the perfect get-away yacht, complete with the reassurance that it can battle out storms it may face while taking trips to tropical weather fronts around the globe.
At 436 feet long and 65 feet wide the yacht named Miami, which is yet to be built, is marketed as an ‘explorer yacht for the adventure seeking’ which can at a moments notice become a rescue vessel in extreme weather.

Its designers Strand Craft, who are responsible for many outlandish yacht creations some of which include bowling alleys and matching supercars, told Robb Report: ‘Miami is the ultimate explorer yacht for an active lifestyle and adventure seeking.’
Adding: ‘It is designed to handle the most extreme weather conditions and can be transformed into a rescue vessel for emergency operations in disaster areas.’
The superyacht boasts two onboard helicopters, which are stored in below-deck hangers, along with two smaller 58-foot tender boats – which are used to ferry guests to and from the boat when moored outside of a harbour.
And if that isn’t enough transport options, the craft also contains two Mercedes G63 AMG off-roading trucks.
For a drink with a view guests can convene in the boats ‘sky bar’ located in the top of the boat’s helm, 66 feet above the water line – equivalent to a six storey building.

The sky bar then converts to a command station, should anything go wrong whilst on a cruise.
Like many superyachts the boat houses the standard gym, spa, office, library, wine cellar and bar as well as a three storey nightclub and a 20 foot TV.
While the craft certainly looks the part, the Miami’s practical storm battling features are backed up by hybrid power systems including hydrogen-fuel-cell generators that can propel the boat along at 20 knots, and diesel back up generators.
Strand Craft told Robb Report it had been ‘designed to push the development of new, more environmentally friendly yacht or ship propulsion systems forward.’
Solar panels power the interior LED lights and features, with vegan leather used to suit environmentally conscious buyers.
The superyacht can endure extreme weather, from tropical storms to glacier filled Arctic waters
