Dentist allegedly hid camera in employee restroom

A longtime dentist in New Jersey has been arrested after a worker found a hidden camera in an employee restroom, police said.

Robert Hofstetter, 69, was arrested by Washington Township police Wednesday after a female employee told investigators she found the camera inside the dentist’s office in Sewell, the Cherry Hill Courier-Post reports.

It’s unclear how many employees may have been victimized.

Hofstetter, who was charged with invasion of privacy, was later released from custody pending a court appearance. He did not immediately return a message seeking comment Thursday and it’s unclear if he’s hired an attorney.

Hofstetter started his family practice in Sewell in 1978 and has “seen the growth and success of this community,” according to his website.

“Our office is designed with our [patients’] comfort and safety in mind,” the website for Hofstetter Family Dentistry reads. “We have equipped our facility with state-of-the-art technology without sacrificing a warm and inviting atmosphere.”

Hofstetter is the only dentist listed on the website, which also features reviews from patients.

“Everything about this practice is wonderful,” one review read. “I am so happy I’ve found the office since I moved down here a few years ago. I love that it’s an actual office with private rooms as opposed to a cubicle environment like some other practices in the area that are so impersonal and don’t allow you to feel comfortable during any procedures.”

Washington Township police ask anyone with information about Hofstetter or the allegations against him to call (856) 589-0330.
