A dad and son are accused of beheading an ex-policeman before cooking and eating his body.
A shocking video shows detectives and forensic teams removing the headless corpse from a cellar door where it had been dumped covered in garbage bags.
According to reports, knife wounds to the body showed flesh had been sliced off the man.
Police later searched an apartment in Saltivka, Ukraine, belonging to a dad and son.
Officers found the head of the 45-year-old former cop in a box stashed on the balcony.
Neither the victim or the defendants have been named.
The alleged killer cannibals were detained half-naked in their flat before the son, 20, claimed his father sliced ‘meat’ off of the victim’s legs and ribs before boiling it on his cooker.
They then both ate the human flesh, according to his testimony.
The young man said relatives were coming to stay, so the pair moved the headless corpse out of their flat and concealed it in a box on their balcony.
Shocked resident Alexandra Grabeynik, who found the body, said: “I looked and it seemed like there was no head…
“I looked again – definitely.
“Detectives questioned us and told us he had no head.
“And then his trousers rolled up and it turned out that they had cut meat from there.”
The victim is understood to be a former policeman who went missing form home on October 4.
He was last seen drinking with two men.
Police sources say the ex-cop was killed by a stab wound to the neck.
Oleg Bekh, national police chief in Kharkiv region, said: “They [the dad and son] were detained.
“A search was carried out in their home, as a result of which the head of the deceased and other material evidence was found on the balcony in a box.”
A formal murder investigation has been opened and if convicted, the men face a minimum of 10 years in prison.
