Cyclist, scooter rider killed in separate fatal car crashes in Queens

Two women were killed in automobile accidents in Queens — one while riding an electric scooter and the other riding bicycle, cops said Friday.

The first accident happened when an Infinity G37 sedan speeding down Rockaway Boulevard near Guy. R Brewer Boulevard on October 12, clipped the back of an e-scooter just before midnight, cops said.

Eternity Stevens, 19, and her passenger, an unidentified 23-year-old woman, were thrown from the Kuba Tail G, police said.

Both women were taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, Stevens with head trauma and her passenger with trauma the head and hip, cops said.

The driver of the car, who cops have identified as Charles Fleming, 55, sped away, only to be arrested less than an hour later for drunk driving by Nassau County police.

He was charged with vehicular assault, leaving the scene of an accident and driving while intoxicated. Steven succumbed to her wounds on October 15, police said.

The second accident happened on Sept. 27, when a cyclist tried to make a left hand turn onto Beach 94th Street from Rockaway Freeway, cops said.

Ada Martinez was riding west in the bike lane on Rockaway Freeway at around 7:43 p.m. when she tried to make the turn just as a 2012 Ford van was coming from the opposite direction, police said.

Martinez, 66, tried to swerve out of the path of the oncoming van, but instead fell off her bike and was hit, cops said. She was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center where she died on Oct. 12, police said.

The driver of the van stayed on the scene and no arrests have been made, police said.
