Children’s ‘Squishies’ toy urgently recalled over fears kids could choke

A ‘Squishies’ toy shaped like a cake is being urgently recalled over fears children could CHOKE on it.

Parents are being urger to check their kids’ toy collections as the squishy toy could pose a risk.

The European Commission said children could mistake the toy for food and choke on it.

It also ruled the plastic packaging was "too big" for the size of the toy and children could suffocate with it.

This particular toy is called the "Slow Rising Scented Squishy" and looks like a slice of cake with pink slices of sponge and decorative strawberries.

The toy, which is made is China, was categorised as a "serious risk" by the European Commission.

They said the products do not comply with the requirements of the Food-imitating Products Directive and the Toy Safety Directive.

Authorities said a child could easily mistake the squishy for food because of the shape, colour, appearance and size of the toy.

Parts of the foam toy could also come off if they were bitten into which could cause children to choke.

The squishies are sold in store such as Claire’s, The Works, as well as toy stores and online via Amazon and eBay.

The recalled cake shaped squishy has an item number of 67887.

There is also a batch number of 5053944678878 which is underneath the barcode on the cardboard label.

Squishes are banned in Denmark after tests found they contain harmful chemicals.

Earlier this year a mum was left horrified when her daughter, nine, was ‘left with chemical burns’ after one of her Soft’n Slo Squishies burst.
