Brooklyn high school athlete who died at practice laid to rest

A promising high-school hoops player who mysteriously collapsed on the basketball court last month was remembered Saturday as a “quiet, fun” teen with NBA dreams.

Our Lady of Miracles RC Church in Brooklyn was packed with more than 100 of Lenny Pierre’s friends and family, many dressed in white for what a loved one called a “celebration of life.”

The 16-year-old, 6-foot-6 junior died on Dec. 26 after suddenly fainting during a team practice with John Bowne HS’s Wildcats.

Some of his teammates donned white T-shirts with “BOWNE 31” written on the front — Pierre’s number.

The teen’s heartbroken mother, Edna Georges, filed into the church behind her son’s all-white casket, where a large white candle was lit and a stand held a photo of the vibrant teen.

“I’m just hanging on,” confessed Pierre’s dad, Lionel. “He was only 16.”
