British diplomat claims she was beaten by her husband but cops freed him because he was covered by her immunity

The unnamed woman, 46, alleged that husband Youssef Amrouche had hit her after calling cops in New York early yesterday.

The diplomat, who works for the UK ambassador to the United Nations, had a red and swollen face but declined medical attention.

Amrouche, 37, allegedly injured a cop by slamming a door on his hand.

However, he could not be held for long as he is immune from local prosecution due to being the spouse of a diplomat.

A source said: “It’s not right. They shouldn’t be able to come to this country and break the law. It’s ridiculous.”
