The ten police forces which have handed out the most speeding tickets in Britain have been revealed with West Yorkshire topping the list.
West Yorkshire Constabulary slapped drivers with the largest number of camera and officer-issued speeding tickets last year, according to a new study.
Avon and Somerset, Thames Valley and West Midlands also ranked highly for dishing out speeding offences.
But the country’s worst drivers overall, based on the number of driving licence points received, are located in Bradford.

Researchers argue last year’s large sum of speeding citations across the UK is ‘very worrying’ because every 16 minutes, someone is either killed or seriously injured on Britain’s roads.
Heald, which manufacturers innovative hostile vehicle mitigation systems, obtained the information under the Freedom of Information Act.
Only 23 police forces – out of the 44 contacted – responded to the FOI request so the information is not complete.
But based on the data provided, the worst offending region in the UK for speeding, according to the total number of speeding tickets issued, is West Yorkshire.
The metropolitan county’s police constabulary issued 224,160 speeding tickets last year.
The majority of the tickets – 220,545 to be exact – were captured by the county’s 402 fixed speeding cameras. Only 3,615 tickets were actually captured by officers.
Within the county, the Bradford district had the highest number of ‘bad drivers’ in the region – based on the number of driving licence points received.
In Bradford, license pointed averaged at 643.3 per 1,000 drivers, Heald reported. Researchers argued this is two-and-a-half times the average.

The crossing saw at least four accidents in the last year where drivers ploughed into pedestrians after failing to stop.

Avon and Somerset ranked second for speeding offences, reporting a total of 173,428 tickets issued between January 2021 and January 2022.
It is unclear how many of those tickets were captured by cameras. However, the region uses 36 fixed cameras, 24 red light cameras and 1,033 mobile cameras to catch speeding motorists.
Thames Valley ranked third worst for speeding drivers, followed by West Midlands and Surrey.
Police in Thames Valley totalled 151,501 speeding tickets last year. Of those, 147,411 were captured by speed cameras and 4,090 by police officers.
West Midlands police issued 95,093 speeding tickets during the course of 2021, but it is unclear how many were captured by cameras.
The region has only 78 cameras monitoring drivers’ speed, which is the least amount of fixed speed cameras out of the nine UK regions.
Surrey – which borders Greater London, Kent, East Sussex, West Sussex, Hampshire, and Berkshire – issued the fifth most speeding tickets last year after amassing 87,270 citations. Only 2,196 were detected roadside by a police officer.

Researchers argue death and serious injuries increased by 15 per cent in 2021, after having fallen in 2020 during lockdown.
Officials say there had been little change in the number of deaths and serious injuries annually between 2012 and the start of the pandemic.
