Sammie Bowman, 22, was due to be a bridesmaid at her brother Andrew’s wedding on May 31 at Eastfield Cottages in Thornton, near Pocklington, Yorkshire but she collapsed and hit her head on a concrete floor.
Doctors discovered a blood clot beneath her skull and although it was removed successfully, her injuries were too severe for her to survive.
She died two days later on June 2 leaving her family devastated.
Debra Bowman, 51, said she misses her daughter Sammie “every second of every day” and has described how she is still finding it hard to come to terms with losing her youngest child.
Paying tribute, her mother said: “She was funny, kind, loving and she would do anything for anybody.
"She had two dogs who she thought the world of and she thought the world of her brother Andrew.
“She was just such a lovely young woman and I know she was really looking forward to being a bridesmaid at his wedding. They were very close and they loved each other to pieces. All she wanted to do was be a bridesmaid for him and she was so happy that day.”
Miss Bowman, who lived in Holme-on-Spalding-Moor, near Market Weighton, was not working at the time of her death due to ill health but she dreamed of joining the police to work as a dog handler.
Ms Bowman said her daughter had all the qualifications she needed to join the police but unfortunately her illness meant she was never able to fulfil her aspirations.
During an inquest into Miss Bowman’s death at Hull Coroner’s Court, her mother revealed the circumstances leading up to her daughter’s collapse.
She said Sammie had started to act “very strange” when they were putting clothes in the car on the day of the wedding and then fell ill.
Ms Bowman said: “We were at the cottage around four hours before Sammie became ill. We had our hair and make-up done and had photos. I was with her most of the time and suspected nothing wrong with her.
“It was at this time that she began to act very strange. She rolled her fingers round her eyes as if she was trying to swat a fly. She then fell backwards onto her back and hit her head on the concrete.
“She made no attempt to save her fall and I heard a very loud bang as she hit her head on the ground.”
Miss Bowman was taken to York Hospital in a serious condition where CT scans showed that the fall had caused an Extradural Haematoma – a blood clot beneath the skull.
She was then transferred to Hull Royal Infirmary where the clot was removed but it was not enough to save her.
Ms Bowman said her son Andrew has been too stricken by grief to look at his wedding photographs, with his mother saying the circumstances of her death had knocked him hard.
Although it has been almost six months to the day since her death, Ms Bowman said it is still painful knowing her daughter is not in her life.
“It has been very difficult, particularly for Andrew and it has hit her brother hard. I miss her every day – every second of every day.”
Assistant Coroner Lorraine Harris concluded Miss Bowman died as a result of a multiple traumatic brain injury caused by a fall.
She said: “I pass on my condolences to the family and must say how sad it is to lose someone so young in such dreadful circumstances.”
