When was the last time you heard any Democrat mention Brett Kavanaugh’s adult behavior in the 31 years since he graduated from Yale?
Answer: You haven’t. Instead, we’re being told to judge Kavanaugh’s nomination to the US Supreme Court entirely on his juvenile behavior going back to high school.
It’s a very safe bet that a great many members of Congress, including the senators preparing to judge him, can’t meet that standard. (Imagine judging Barack Obama purely on his high-school pot-smoking Choom Gang. . .)
Last week, Democrats were calling this “a job interview.” Not for a 53-year-old with an unblemished decades-long professional and personal record it’s not.
Yet Capitol Hill is engaged in a tawdry circus of debates about Kavanaugh’s high-school drinking (did he black out?) and language in his yearbook — with some Dems actually demanding the FBI find out what references to “boofing” really mean.
This is beyond being outrageous or ludicrous: It’s obscene.
Especially when there’s no evidence of improper Kavanaugh behavior as an adult in decades of public service: no suggestion of excessive drinking, of sexual assault or aggression or of even disrespecting women.
Kavanaugh, after all, has been subjected to six different FBI background checks and not one raised even the remote suggestion of misbehavior. Either the FBI is incompetent (in which case, why trust the current investigation?) or the charges are nonsense.
Some criticize his attitude at last week’s hearing. Should he not have been angry on a day when the morning headlines were about utterly ridiculous charges that he was part of a teenage gang-rape ring?
Democrats aren’t just disregarding his entire adult life — they’re doing their best to destroy it. Not just sullying his reputation, but dragging him and his family into the gutter before the entire world.
It’s beyond shameless: It’s foul.
