Nicolas Cage rules out being live-action Superman, but is keen to be the new Lex Luthor

Superman super-fan Nicolas Cage appears to have given up his dream of playing a live-action version of the Man of Steel – even though there may or may not be a job going.

Instead, according to a recent interview with The Guardian, Nicolas would much rather turn his attention to the villainous side of the Worlds of DC.

Despite loving the comic book character so much he named his son Kal-El (!), the Oscar-winning actor has declared that his “Superman days” are, sadly, “long gone’.

However, when asked if he would rather take on the role of a bad guy in any future DC movie, Cage replied with glee: “Oh, that would be GREAT! I’d make a great Lex Luthor!”

And y’know what? We agree.

Unfortunately, we’re not sure how likely it is that we’ll be seeing Nicolas Cage as the next Lex Luthor – especially if Jesse Eisenberg has anything to do with it.

Jesse, who last portrayed the villain in a brief Justice League post-credits scene, revealed earlier this year that Luthor was the “most enjoyable character” he’d ever played.

“I love playing the character,” he said, after admitting that he has “no idea” if he’ll ever crop up in future Superman movies.

“Probably in terms of movie acting, it’s the most enjoyable character I’ve had the opportunity to play, so I would love to do it again,” he added.

“But I don’t know what their slate is. If you have any pull, please use it.”
