‘Breaking Bad’ policeman must sell his house following conviction

‘Breaking Bad’ policeman serving six years in jail for double life as a drug dealer must sell his house and give up his £2,750 Breitling watch

  • Daniel Aimson, 37, jailed for his role in organising cannabis ring in Manchester
  • Greater Manchester police officer jailed following trial in December last year
  • Aimson has now been ordered to repay nearly £65,000 in just three months

Daniel Aimson, 37, has been ordered to pay almost £65,000 in three months, after leading a criminal gang selling cannabis in Manchester and north Wales

A former policeman who became obsessed with ‘Breaking Bad’ and led a double life as a drug dealer has been forced to sell his home and expensive watch.

Daniel Aimson, 37, was ordered to pay nearly £65,000 in three months for leading a criminal organisation selling cannabis in Manchester and north Wales.

Aimson, who was pictured wearing a ‘Breaking Bad’ T-shirt as a nod to Chemistry teacher-turned-crystal meth dealer Walter White, has to sell his house, half of which will go to his wife, and also sell his £2,750 Breitling watch, following a Proceeds of Crime Act hearing.

Aimson’s accomplices have also been given confiscation orders, forcing them to hand over the proceeds of their involvement in the drug business.

Steven Hindley, 28, who sold drugs to more senior criminals in north Wales, has been ordered to pay £6,632 in two weeks.

Aimson’s ‘right hand man’, Hussein Mozahem, 26, will need to pay £1,960 in two weeks and Christopher King, 50, will need to pay £450 in 14 days.

Judge Suzanne Goddard QC said all the drugs and equipment seized by authorities must be destroyed.

Aimson, of Astley, Greater Manchester, was jailed for six years and four months last Christmas.

The Greater Manchester Police officer took time off work to tend to his cannabis farm, potentially worth more than £84,000.

Prosecutor Owen Edwards said: ‘He (Aimson) was seen at various stages on his own CCTV hard drive to wear a t-shirt depicting the lead character Walt in the hit TV series called Breaking Bad.

Aimson, who was jailed for six years and four months in December 2017, had worked as a Greater Manchester police officer

‘The character plays a respectable chemistry teacher who adopts a professional approach to the production and distribution of the drug crystal meth, and becomes in the process a highly successful drug dealer.

‘In his various text messages it is clear that Aimson revelled in his double life as officer and criminal.’

Mr Edwards said that between January 2015 and June 2017, Aimson and seven other defendants produced the class B drug on a commercial scale.

Aimson ran the farm from two properties, one of which was leased after he stole a member of the public’s identity during a routine spot check on their driving licence.

Aimson pleaded guilty to conspiracy to produce cannabis last year, and was sacked from Greater Manchester Police in February for his involvement.

Mozahem and King also pleaded guilty to the charge. Hindley pleaded guilty to a charge of being concerned with the supply of cannabis.
