Brainless youths spark major emergency after scaling massive crane for social media stunt

Thrillseekers sparked a major emergency response by climbing up a massive crane, in shocking footage obtained by The Sun.

Owen Reece and three friends filmed themselves sneaking into a building site and scaling the machine without any ropes or equipment in Ilford, east London.

A police van, fire engines and ambulances rushed to the scene after passers by saw them larking about in windy conditions hundreds of feet in the air on Saturday.

Once the so-called “urban explorers” reached the top of the crane, one remarked: “A police officer was running towards the crane… sprinting.”

Another added: “Jesus Christ. There is so much police. This is crazy. They are all looking up at us.

The four were arrested once they descended the building equipment in Roden Street at about 4pm on 19 January.

They were held in custody on suspicion of causing a public nuisance but have since been released and told they face no further action, Reece claims.

A Met Police spokesman said: “Officers and the LFB attended.

“All four were arrested on suspicion of causing a public nuisance.”

Reece’s Facebook profile shows pictures of a man climbing up other huge cranes, including one in London’s Canary Wharf, without any ropes or safety equipment.

“Urban explorers” sneak into abandoned buildings and scale huge cranes to get snaps and footage around the world.
