Boy, 10, who was on a date with his ‘girlfriend’ is turfed out of Nando’s because they’re too young to eat there alone

  • Boy, 10, took his girlfriend to Nando’s in Edinburgh for a romantic meal for two
  • But the pair were forced to eat outside because of strict licensing laws
  • The young boy’s plight was revealed by his older sister who took to Twitter

A budding young Lothario, 10, was kicked out of a branch of Nando’s while trying to impress his ‘wee girlfriend’ with spicy chicken wings and some peri-peri fries.

The moonstruck primary school pupil was told he and his female friend were ‘too young’ to dine alone in the restaurant in Edinburgh, as licensing laws dictate underage diners must be at least 13.

His plight was revealed on Twitter, when his older sister took to the social networking site to shame Nando’s for hindering his romantic overture.

Nando’s has now apologised for ‘cramping the little guy’s style’ but confirmed it was a legal requirement with alcohol licence laws in place.

A spokesman said: ‘We know that nobody wants to go on a date with their parents in tow but unfortunately it’s a legal requirement of our alcohol license in Scotland that all under-13’s must be accompanied by an adult.’
