Boozy conman vanishes after racking up £1,000 bar bills during a week-long bender

During a one-night stay, he sank 14 vodkas, two gins, four white wines, four Peronis and two pints of lager.

He then turned down a coffee after a fillet steak meal, instead downing a bottle of prosecco before staggering to bed.

Nigel Stevens, landlord at The Wyvill Arms, in Constable Burton, North Yorks, said: “I couldn’t believe he was still standing after drinking all that.”

He vanished the next morning without paying his £335 bill — £195.50 of it for booze and food.

The cheat had spent the previous five days 24 miles away racking up a £500 bill at the White Horse in Ripon.

Landlord Dave Bate said: “The man said his boss would be paying. He’s a pathological liar and clearly a very heavy drinker. He spent at least £100 on drink, mostly on lager. We tried to speak to him about his bill on the last day and discovered he had sneaked off without paying.”

The man finished off his week with a night at The Countryman’s Inn at nearby Hunton, again leaving without paying.

North Yorkshire Police said the man was in his late 20s or early 30s, of large build and with blond hair. He was driving a 51 plate Vauxhall Corsa.

Cops said they were trying to identify him and see if the thefts were linked.
