AOC repeats ‘concentration camp’ claim after border visit

Freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez repeated her claim that the US is holding migrants in “concentration camps” along the southern border in a tweet Tuesday afternoon that included images of crowded living conditions in Border Patrol facilities.

Ocasio-Cortez sent the tweet a day after she blasted Border Patrol agents for the conditions in the facilities and for allegedly mocking her during a congressional tour of them on Monday.

“These are concentration camps,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote in her tweet Tuesday afternoon, which included images of overcrowded facilities posted by an NBC News reporter.

“According to concentration camp experts, people begin to die due to overcrowding, neglect, and shortage of resources,” she added. “We saw all three of those signs on our trip yesterday. Another person died yesterday. And those are the deaths we know about.”

Earlier on Tuesday, the congresswoman’s staff responded to a report in the Washington Examiner that she screamed at a Border Patrol agent in a “threatening manner” during her tour of the facilities along the border on Monday.

Ocasio-Cortez’s staff said a Border Patrol agent tried to take a “mocking” selfie of himself and the congresswoman, and she responded by reprimanding him.

“The congresswoman spoke sternly to a CBP agent that tried to take a stealth selfie with the congresswoman in a mocking manner, despite the gravity of the situation,” the New York lawmaker’s office told the Washington Post.
