Dame Louise Ellman has been a Labour member for 55 years but is “struggling to stay” over Jeremy Corbyn’s failure to kick out anti-Semites.
It comes after she was rounded on by left-wingers at a bruising meeting of her local party Liverpool constituency on Friday night.
During the stormy meeting, her local party backed a motion supporting activists accused of bullying Jewish Labour MP Luciana Berger out of Labour.
Ex-Liverpool Mayor Malcolm Kennedy said hard-left activists are waging a “bullying” campaign against Dame Louise.
He told the Mail on Sunday: “It’s the atmosphere, it’s the attitudes.
“She stands there, as if in the dock, as the chair allows members to take the mic during her report and condemn her as if in a Soviet show trial, members refusing to give her the slightest respect.”
The new onslaught comes after her local party chairman last year called for her to be deselected – warning “it’s time for a change”.
Dame Louise told the Sunday Times: “I have had strong ties with the Labour Party over a very long period.
“I am still fighting the party’s failure to deal with anti-Semitism but I am struggling to deal with the current situation.”
Dame Louise has received a torrent of vile anti-Semitic abuse.
Last week she furiously accused the Labour leadership of failing to do anything about an activist who accused her and fellow Jewish MP Ruth Smeeth of not having “human blood”.
Labour deputy leader Tom Watson had complained about the activist five months ago.
But in a furious showdown at the weekly meeting of Labour MPs in the Commons, she demanded to know why the complaint was ignored.
