Siobhan Wend and her fiancé had hit some "serious libido lows" and weren’t sure what was to blame.
They were blissfully happy as a couple, had just had their adorable baby and both had successful careers.
And then the mum and writer had a brainwave – they were going to buy an alarm clock and undergo a digital detox.
Siobhan explained: "As I mindlessly stalked someone’s cousins, nephews aunt away on social media , it dawned on me that I’d become absolutely addicted to my phone."
The busy mum says she’d used social media while she was on maternity leave to stay connected with what was happening in the outside world.
And, like many of us, when she returned to work she would regularly check emails , Facebook and Instagram as she commuted into work.
But after a frantic day at the office and then the demands of home life – feeding and bathing baby – she would "retreat into mind-numbing social scrolling until way past my own bedtime".
Siobhan’s partner, as a working father, would often come home from work exhausted and turn to his phone for "some horizontal bliss".
But as the couple’s workload seemed to do nothing but increase, Siobhan realised they needed a digital detox "to get back to us".
She launched a 30 day challenge – no phones, laptops or TV after 6pm.
So the first thing Siobhan did was to buy an alarm clock so the couple couldn’t use having their phones in the bedroom as an excuse for needing to wake up.
And there was a box at the door where all electrical devices had to be put in before the couple could begin their evening at home.
Siobhan admits night one was "strange" but she "cooked a dinner worthy of a Jamie Oliver high-five, had a meaningful conversation with my partner, took a long, hot shower and picked that book I “thought” I’d read two holidays ago."
Almost instantly, she could see the benefits.
Siobhan, writing on Kidspot.com said: "As I turned each page, I immediately felt time had stopped and we had gained hours back.
"With time on our side, before I knew it, it was on. Mind-blowing sex, worthy of more double-taps than the egg that cracked Kylie Jenner ’s most-liked Instagram post.
"We soon fell into a delirious post-sex deep sleep (for the entire night)."
A better relationship, sleep and more downtime weren;t the only benefits the mum experienced.
By day three she noticed her even her eyes were brighter and clearer.
And by day 15 the couple knew there was no going back – the digital ban was here to stay.
Siobhan said: "Our sex-life was showing some serious #RelationshipGoals and we felt present in our own lives and each other.
"Our sleep had improved, we’d ordered take-out less, our energy had increased and we’d finally found the time to enjoy some exercise outside of the bed sheets."
